Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Set $10 Billion Trade Target
Mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in 2025 reached nearly $5 billion, an increase of 16% compared to the previous year. This was reported by the Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Erlan Koshanov, in Bukhara during a meeting with the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Nuriddin Ismoilov.
According to him, the new ambitious goal of the two countries is to raise mutual trade to $10 billion. Currently, 78 joint projects are being implemented with a total value of $1.8 billion.
The prospects for cooperation in the trade-economic and agricultural sectors were discussed, as well as issues of sustainable development, the “green” economy, and energy.
Erlan Koshanov emphasized that the high level of political dialogue between the leaders of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan ensures effective interaction among all branches of government in both countries.
He also informed the Uzbek parliamentarians about the results of the referendum on the draft Constitution, noting that the new Fundamental Law is the culmination of the large-scale reforms of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, implemented from the very first days of his presidency.
The Mazhilis Chairman noted that Kazakhstan attaches special importance to strengthening the centuries-old friendship and good-neighborly relations with Uzbekistan.
Thanks to the political will of the heads of state, a model of strategic partnership and alliance has been established.
Interparliamentary cooperation is conducted within the framework of these agreements, and delegation meetings are devoted to detailed discussions of the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, including culture, education, and tourism.
