Consumer Market: Annual Inflation Eases to 11.7%
Annual consumer price growth in Kazakhstan amounted to 11.7% in February 2026, down from 12.2% in January, according to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Monthly inflation stood at 1.1%.
In the food segment, annual price growth reached 12.7% (12.9% in January). Non-food goods prices increased by 11.6% compared to 11.7% a month earlier. Growth in paid services slowed to 10.8% from 12.0%.
The largest contribution to inflation continued to come from food products and non-alcoholic beverages. In the non-food segment, price dynamics affected clothing, transport, and personal care products. Within services, price changes were recorded in housing and utilities as well as healthcare.
Effective January 1, 2026, the VAT rate was increased from 12% to 16%. In January, money supply contracted by 3.8% to KZT 50.7 trillion.
