H&M Considers Launching a Logistics Hub and Developing Sourcing in Uzbekistan

The Swedish company H&M Group is considering the possibility of opening a hub and developing a sourcing system in Uzbekistan. This was reported on January 15 by Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Sweden, Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov, during a video conference meeting attended by the country's president.

The project is being discussed within the framework of expanding investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Sweden, as well as against the backdrop of preparing an intergovernmental agreement on labor migration, the signing of which is expected within the next three months. Earlier, following a visit to Uzbekistan, Sweden's Minister for Migration, Johan Forssell, stated the Swedish side's readiness to expand migration programs. According to the diplomat, H&M Group is interested in investing in Uzbekistan's textile industry, including creating an infrastructure base for production and logistics presence. The implementation of the project could generate additional demand for industrial and warehouse real estate facilities, as well as for sites within industrial parks.

Other areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Sweden under consideration include projects in social protection and the development of innovative high-tech solutions in the agro-industrial complex, including organic production and preparing products for entry into the EU market.
Special emphasis is placed on export logistics. According to estimates from the Uzbek side, Sweden's food market is worth approximately $15 billion per year. Despite high transport costs, supplies remain economically viable, which underscores the need to establish sustainable logistics routes and corresponding warehouse infrastructure.

Furthermore, prospects for cooperation in livestock farming are being discussed, including projects for developing bioproteins, which may require the creation of specialized production facilities. In June 2025, Uzbekistan and Sweden signed a joint declaration on cooperation in migration and labor migration, which became the basis for the further development of economic and investment projects, including in the commercial real estate segment.
