Kazakh Business to Invest $84 Million in Logistics Center in Uzbekistan
Kazakh businesses have launched the implementation of a major infrastructure project in Uzbekistan. An EPC contract has been signed in Tashkent for the construction of the first phase of a Multifunctional Modern Logistics Center (MMLC). The project is expected to become one of the largest private logistics infrastructure facilities in Central Asia. This was reported by TengriNews citing the press service of PTC Holding.
The contract was signed between the joint venture Silkway CA and the Chinese company China Railway Construction Engineering Group. The agreement предусматривает the implementation of the project under the EPC model — on a turnkey basis, covering design, construction, and commissioning of the facility.
The agreement was signed by Daniyar Tiessov, CEO of the Silkway CA joint venture, and Tian Zhenhua, Deputy General Director for the Central Asian region at CRCEG. Investments in the first phase of construction are estimated at $84 million. The project is scheduled for implementation between 2025 and 2030, with the first phase expected to be completed in 2027. The logistics center will be located on a site of 159.4 hectares in the Tashkent region.
According to Daniyar Tiessov, the project will strengthen Central Asia’s transit potential and become an important component of Eurasian transport corridors. “The project aims to develop the region’s export potential and increase the share of container transportation by rail by at least two times. The new hub will complement PTC Holding’s existing infrastructure, including the Dostyk TransTerminal on the China border and the multimodal Poti TransTerminal in Georgia,” he said.
Construction will be operated by the Silkway CA joint venture, established with the participation of PTC Holding and Uzbekistan Temir Yullari JSC. According to PTC Holding, the project is being implemented within the framework of intergovernmental cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The official launch of construction was given in November 2025 by the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
