The First Stone Has Been Laid for Griffin Logopark Almaty
International developer Griffin Partners, which has delivered more than 500,000 sq. m of Class A industrial and logistics facilities, has commenced construction of its flagship project in Kazakhstan. The first 27,000 sq. m of the complex is scheduled to be commissioned in Q3 2027.
International developer Griffin Partners, with the support of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), held a ceremonial groundbreaking for Griffin Logopark Almaty, a modern Class A+ logistics complex with a total area of more than 125,000 sq. m. The event marked the official launch of one of Kazakhstan’s largest warehouse development projects. Total investment in the project is expected to amount to approximately USD 125 million.
The ceremony was attended by Chingis Sairanovich Arinov, Akim of Almaty Region; Arken Khamitovich Utenov, Akim of Alatau City; Sergey Ivanovich Paseko, Executive Director for Transport and Infrastructure at the Eurasian Development Bank; Bayan Kairatovich Konirbayev, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Alatau City Authority; Islam Mundashzhanovich Abdykerim, General Director of Griffin Logopark Almaty LLP; and Roman Alexandrovich Fotiev, Executive Director of Griffin Logopark Almaty.
Griffin Logopark Almaty is located in a rapidly developing area of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the city of Alatau. The project has a strategic location at the intersection of the A3 Kонаев highway and the Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD).
“We have laid the first stone, and this is not simply a symbolic start, but the beginning of a unique opportunity. While construction is underway, we are ready to adapt warehouse units to the specific requirements of individual tenants, ensuring that every square metre of space operates with maximum efficiency,” said Roman Alexandrovich Fotiev, Executive Director of Griffin Logopark Almaty.
“Alatau City is developing as a modern business environment where investment projects should receive the necessary infrastructure and organisational support. The implementation of Griffin Logopark Almaty will contribute to the development of the city’s transport and logistics potential, create conditions for the location of Kazakhstani and international companies, and further stimulate business activity. For our part, Alatau City Authority is ready to provide the necessary support for the implementation of the project,” noted Bayan Kairatovich Konirbayev, Chief Digital and AI Officer of the special management organisation Alatau City Authority.
The project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase includes the construction of several warehouse blocks with a total area of 62,710 sq. m. Construction is currently underway on the first 27,000 sq. m block, which is scheduled for commissioning in August 2027. In parallel with construction, Griffin Partners is holding negotiations with potential tenants of the complex.
Griffin Logopark Almaty is currently under active construction. Upon completion, it will create a new high-quality logistics platform for international and Kazakhstani companies operating in FMCG, e-commerce, logistics and distribution.
Sergey Paseko, Executive Director for Transport and Infrastructure at the Eurasian Development Bank, said: “EDB is a long-term financial partner of the Griffin Logopark Almaty project and is consistently supporting its implementation. In June, we agreed on cooperation with Griffin Partners, in August we signed a loan agreement to finance the first phase of the project, and today we are marking an important milestone in its implementation — laying the foundation stone for the future complex. Supported by EDB, the project will contribute to the development of modern warehousing and logistics infrastructure as an important component of the Eurasian transport framework. The location of Griffin Logopark Almaty near BAKAD and international transport routes creates favourable conditions for the development of trade, production chains and Kazakhstan’s integration into regional supply chains.”
The launch of Griffin Logopark Almaty comes at a time when Kazakhstan’s warehouse real estate market is moving toward more moderate rates of new construction. Given the trend toward declining vacancy rates, the logistics park will be one of the largest new facilities contributing to the future supply of high-quality warehouse space.
