President Tokayev Invites Zara and Massimo Dutti to Establish Manufacturing in Kazakhstan

On June 24, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Santiago Martínez-Lage Sobredo, Deputy CEO and Director of External Relations at the Inditex Group. The parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation and strengthening the international retailer's presence in Kazakhstan.

The key topic of the meeting was the President's proposal to consider localizing part of the textile manufacturing for the group's brands in Kazakhstan, according to digitalbusiness.kz.

Logistics Hub Based in Almaty and Karaganda

Inditex, whose portfolio includes Zara, Massimo Dutti, Pull&Bear, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, and Zara Home, is currently developing a regional transit and logistics hub for Central Asia based at the airports of Almaty and Karaganda.

President Tokayev welcomed the company's investment in logistics infrastructure while highlighting the potential for expanding cooperation through the establishment of textile manufacturing facilities in Kazakhstan.

For his part, the Inditex representative praised Kazakhstan's favorable investment climate and reaffirmed the company's interest in further expanding its business operations in the country.

Opportunities for Industry and Retail

The localization of manufacturing for international fashion brands could become a significant milestone in the development of Kazakhstan's textile industry and strengthen the country's integration into global supply chains.

Locating production facilities near the logistics hub would help reduce delivery times for products destined for both the domestic market and other Central Asian countries, while improving overall supply chain efficiency.

In addition, such projects could stimulate the development of manufacturing infrastructure, create new jobs, and attract additional investment into Kazakhstan's light industry sector.

Inditex Expands Its Presence in Kazakhstan

Economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Spain continues to grow. Around 60 Spanish companies are currently operating in the country.

Inditex is already present in Kazakhstan through a network of stores representing its international brands. If the proposed manufacturing localization initiative moves forward, the partnership could enter a new phase by integrating logistics, retail, and industrial production into a unified value chain.
