First-ever 7-storey Class AAA warehouse to be built in Almaty
Construction has begun in Almaty on a next-generation logistics complex, Vertical Hub Almaty. The project is positioned as the world’s first seven-storey vertical Class AAA warehouse. This was reported by Inbusiness.kz, citing the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in Kazakhstan.
The total area of the facility will reach 74,000 sq. m, with a building footprint of just 11,500 sq. m, reflecting a trend toward more efficient use of urban land. Total investment is estimated at KZT 18.4 billion (approximately $39 million). Commissioning is scheduled for Q3 2028.
The project предусматривает full automation of warehouse operations, including the deployment of AGV systems, integration of WMS and ERP into a unified digital ecosystem, and the use of high-capacity freight elevators with a lifting capacity of up to 20 tonnes to support vertical logistics.
The ground floor will feature 28 loading docks, while floors two through six will accommodate automated storage zones. The seventh floor will house administrative premises totaling 3,200 sq. m.
Engineering solutions include a dedicated power substation, climate control systems, and industrial flooring designed to withstand loads of 8 tonnes per sq. m. The project also incorporates vertical greenery covering approximately 6,800 sq. m, aimed at enhancing the building’s energy efficiency.
According to the developers, the “green” façade will help reduce heat loss in winter and mitigate structural overheating during summer.
The project reflects growing demand for high-tech warehouse infrastructure in Almaty and a shift toward multi-level logistics solutions amid limited urban land availability.
